SICP lectures fansub project

Remember the now-defunct SICP Subtitles project (sicptitles.org)? We're REviving it!

Anyone is welcome to join the project and help with transcribing, editing, and typesetting. We currently have lecture 1a transcribed and ready to edit, and someone has so far already completed 15% of lecture 1b.

We'll be reencoding to 640x480, it doesn't look too bad upscaled and you can actually read the text on the slides that way. Does anyone know whether the .mpg or .avi raws is the better quality?

What questions do you have? It's not like the source video is that good, so if it were me, I'd just use the original sources to avoid losing more quality(if I were to re-encode, i'd get rid of that dotcrawl/rainbowing in the source if possible), mux in the SRT and make a nicely typeset ASS track too, and mux that info a MKV.
