Programming Job!

I am looking at a job that lists this as a requirement:

general knowledge of data processing system design methods, techniques and standards

What do you think they're talking about?
Would it be something along the lines of software development models, like the waterfall model?

It's a pretty generic statement. Data processing that I've done includes number crunching, statistics, sometimes SQL.

About so called "Data processing"
One job which were advertising for this skill wanted me to parse a 250MB apache log file and print out data about most frequently accessed hours etc etc...
I was paid $1500 for a 10 minute perl script ;-P

number crunching and statistics is what I think about with data processing, this is an application development position so I am wondering what standards they may be referring to.
