Best intro to java book

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-22 17:55

Looking for the best Intro to Java book out there, covering lots from the basics to GUI to applets to networking. Preferably JDK 1.6. I've heard good things about Deitel's How to Program series. The Java Tutorials are not sufficient. Thoughts?

I hate Deitel's books.

I have one here and It has always been terrible.

Seeing as you are on /prog/ you are probably not new at coding so I recommend Core java volumes 1 & 2.
