Choose one! [Serious thread!]

You have to make a choice: Never have sex again, or never program in any language ever again. WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE?]

You hear it again and again. "you need more confidence". That has to be the number one thing people say if want to start a startup.

Here is the problem. If even the most hideous of buisness associates are turning me down, how the hell am I supposed to be confident that I can get an investor? You can not just pull confidence out of thin air, it does not work that way. If you could just pull confidence out of thin hair then you could pull other emotions such as happiness out of thin air and there would be no sadness in the world.

I have been rejected so many times by the most hideous of companies. I am in my 30s and never even touched a low hanging fruit. Given my circumstances a lack of confidence is a natural reaction that I can not help. I would like top be confident just like I would like to be happy, but you can not just pull these things out of thin air. Telling me to be more confident would be like telling someone who's parents just died not to be sad.
