What functional language should I learn

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-04 6:01

I have programmed non trivial amounts in assembly, c/c++, java, basic, php, actionscript and javascript.  I want to learn one of those fancy super abstract functional languages now.  I'm thinking either scheme or common lisp.  What does /prog/ recommend?

I took a look at that. Why the hell would you allow random comments to be interwoven in your book.

Has anyone bought RWH? How does it compare with the online one?

It doesn't have comments. So only then can you see past the comments and realise that YHAT teaches the same things, except it doesn't treat you like a cretin.

It can easily be pirated. The online text contains some errors and typos (sometimes the code snippets won't even compile) which are fixed in the book (usually comments in online version point them out - so if you don't intend to read the book, it's worth reading the comments, at least some of them).

I don't think that they plan to update online version to print-ready version.

Don't change these.
