Will we ever reach the holy grail of AI where our robots can be confused for humans /prog/?? Will they be able to learn just like humans?

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-03 17:03

Yes, we will - but you and neither me won't ever experience it.

It would need to be AS - Artificial Stupidy.
Or ANUS - Artificial Neural Universal Simulator.
Then you could hax someone's ANUS and have big $$$ from that.

Strong AI is useless. There are only two questions that matter:
- Will her body be able to accommodate a sufficient amount of intimate activities?
- Will she be able to convince me that she genuinely loves me, even if I know that I programmed her to do so?

"Aberystwyth University researchers showed off their robot scientist Adam, the first machine to make scientific discoveries by devising and carrying out experiments (on yeast genetics)."

It's not just grinding through stuff.  It comes up with a hypothesis, then devises experiments to test it, and then stuff to test the results.
