Stupid question, /prog/

Name: Anonymous 2009-03-11 19:27

Hey /prog/, sorry for this stupid question but I am a bit of a baka and Google does nothing.

I'm looking for a web host to run an IRC bot from.  Trouble is, I'm not willing to pay for it, and every free web host I've checked will not allow IRC bots (for good reason, no doubt, but it's not really helping me now).  If there is an EXPERT in the audience, could you point me to a web host that supports perl and will let me run an IRC bot?

Thanks, or no thanks, depending on your responses.

Protip: you're looking for a shell account, not a web host.

My computer is a laptop and I take it to class with me, which means that for eight hours at a time it will be offline or on a slow as fuck wireless connection.  If that were an option, I wouldn't be asking here, bro.

This has nothing to do with programming. Ask in /tech/.

IRC isn't exactly a bandwidth-intensive or latency-sensitive protocol.

Trouble is, I'm not willing to pay for it

Yes, that is the trouble. Drop $5 over at VPSLink and GTFO.
