Fucking FireFox

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-17 21:39

Once again, FireFox is fucking terrible. If you have a select element and set the size to the number of options, it will always show a disabled vertical scroll bar with no way to remove it.

This is some basic fucking fail. The scroll bar is not needed, will not be used, looks like shit and FireFail provides no way to fix it.

What can anyone expect from the aborted fetus of Netscape and AOL.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-17 21:52

Wow, you're right! This is the reason not to use Firefox.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-17 22:10

At least it is slightly better than Chromes terrible support. Not only do you get the fucking scrollbar, but setting the size does nothing. Having 3 options and setting the size to 3 shows sapce for 5.

IE gets this one right. And its fucking old and basic.

Welcome to the future, where apps are hosted in the cloud. Sorry I don't do little command line Loonix programs in C. It is 2009, not 1999.

To be honest, >>1, Firefox has worse problems than a simple scrollbar.

I opened Firefox one night and went to sleep before doing a thing. When I woke up, it was using 30 more MB of RAM. That is a fucking piss-poor memory model, whatever it is. I didn't touch a thing.

I wish it didn't have such badass extensions, then I could use Opera.

You don't need the select at all if the options are all visible.
 Use checkboxes instead.

select is for dropdown elements(usually single choice).
For single menu choice, a radio box field is better.
For multiple choices design a form with checkboxes.

SVG is not a standard. After fucking years its still a recommendation that is subject to change. The W3C still calls it a recommendation.

IE doesn't support XHTML? Did you misread a blog post by an idiot who misread an Wikipedia article. IE's lead program manger works on the XHTML spec. The IE devs know a lot more about XHTML than you. IE supports XHTML just fine, but it does not support the XHTML MIME type. They went with the well understood doctype to specify XHTML. This was done for many reasons, 1 being security. The FireFail team, not being as security minded, implemented the type support poorly and guess wtf happened? It caused a security exploit.

Ad blocking? FireFox doesn't support ad blocking either. There are extensions that do, and there are extensions for IE that do to.

Fucking idiots.

I know you try and troll, but when you don't you try and pretend you know more than you do.

For accessibility, it is better to use a select element. Screen readers can't tell if a series of checkboxes are related. While radio buttons can be related, they do no allow for multiple selections if they are.

RMS can suck my balls.

As long as I live I'll never use GPL'd software. Even if I didn't wholeheartedly disagree with their entire philosophy, I still wouldn't use it, if not for the simple fact that almost all GPL'd code is shite.

Thousands of monkeys who aren't good enough to get jobs where they get paid to write code are the people making GPL software. Yeah, they're so bad at code that they decide to write it for free. And of course there's no such thing as standards, or design. It's entirely "Hack it until it works!". You have 50,000 subpar programmers each hacking the application to put their little pet features into it.

Face it guys, it's never going to work in the long run. The only reason it's gotten this far is simply because you have thousands of monkeys working on it at once, simply to make up for the fact that it takes 50x longer to do anything in GPL'd software than in properly architected designs.

Think about this. Why does Open Office suck so badly? Because word processing is BORING as hell. NO ONE wakes up and says "OH BOY! I THINK I'LL MAKE A WORD PROCESSOR TODAY!". The ONLY motivation an OO developer has is "I'M GONNA FUCKING KILL MICROSOFT TODAY. CRY HAVOK AND LET LOOSE THE DOGS OF WAR. YOU WILL RUE THE DAY YOU EVER MADE SOFTWARE, MICRO$OFT! YES! I USED A DOLLAR SIGN INSTEAD OF AN 'S', SEE HOW CLEVERLY CLEVER I AM?! YOU ARE NO MATCH FOR MY WITS, BILL GATES!!!!". So you get a whole bunch of loonies, working for free, whose only purpose is to piss off Microsoft, and none of them can possibly say they actually enjoy what they're working on.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is out there going "Gosh, we need money. Let's make some new features. And pay our devs money, because hey, no one would possibly be dumb enough to want to make a word processor for free.".

I so totally forgot where I was going with this. Bottom line, Fuck RMS. Fuck him up his stupid ass.

Yes, the fact that it's not open-source is clearly a better reason to hate FF than the fact that it's just inconvenient to use.
