shared objects and autoconf

i'm trying to learn autoconf because my projects are growing and i'm starting to develop on multiple posix systems.

i've read a great tutorial on washington.edu about how to do basic stuff with autoconf but some of my projects create their own shared objects which they link to

what can you tell me about autoconf and compiling shared objects? do i need to make it do something special with automake? any tutorials dealing with this or any specific manual pages i should read, or any specific chapers of the info pages

just giving me a hint on what to search for in the infopages would be very helpful

infopages are useless. Just use Google like everything else. I was able to find a helpful answer in less than ten seconds.

Don't use autoconf, use the GNUstep make package.

GNUstep
I can't believe they're still trying.

then share it with the rest of the class why don't ya

the only thing i can imagine is using AC_CHECK_LIB([name], [func]) but that's just for autoconf and the configure script which is run before my shared object is compiled

hmm now that i think about it, i don't even need to do anything with autoconf, i'll just make the Makefile compile my library and link to it like i always have

If you have already seen it, it probably isn't as useful as I have thought. If you haven't, you don't deserve to.

just change your cflags to -shared or something liek that. basicalyl, read up on making shared objects, and make your cflags related to that.

Give a man a fish and he'll be back tomorrow with a whiny sense of entitlement.

Sexually humiliate a man with a fish and he's not going to come back.

I'd rather you spared me the thinking.
