What are your true feelings regarding Ruby?
Do you really think it's good or do you like it just because it's Japanese?

TOO BAD RUBY IS SLOW AS FUCK

Nobody likes it either way.  Are you new here?

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-10 18:54

Neither. I used to use it before Rails came along, but quit around 2005 mainly for two reasons: firstly, it is inded slow as fuck, even when compared to other interpreted languages (or at least it was back then), and secondly and more importantly, Matz loves Perl and the cancer of TIMTOWTDI is an integral part of Ruby culture, which got really annoying as more and more people starting using it, each inventing their own weird customs and idioms. Nowadays it seems that majority of Ruby users are annoying Textmate-using Web 2.0 hipsters, which is one more reason to avoid it.

Im looking for a programming language, it cant be funcu (thats japanese for functional) or any girl language. It has to be of 2 or more platformu (thats japanese for 2 platforms) and has be be chibi(small) sized. And has to be really kawaii (cute). Also It has to be about 10-20 bux. And you have to post examples of it first (i want to make shure it's kawaii [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching IDE (WITH editor). OH! and it CANNOT have any cartoon syntax, or be made out of java. It has to be made of assembler, or something like that. Also it would be nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (korea) or whatever. I have found a language similar to the one im describing in google, but it was 1 platform, and i dont want my objuttu (objects) to touch my other libraries (it can get confusing and i would not like that, plus 2 platforms looks more kawaii)

It is no longer slow as fuck and is awesome. There being more than one way to do it is good and you are a faget.
You're only right about it being used almost only by Textmate-using douches such as myself. Watch the screencasts.

Since we're making performance assessments, I'd like to point out that TraceMonkey does not deliver what it promises.

what does that page have to do with what tracemonkey promises? i don't see any comparisons to other javascript implementations (especially spidermonkey) there.

People who hate TIMTOWTDI are copy-and-paste coders who rely on reading online tutorials and example pages instead of learning those essential fundamentals of programming that apply to all languages. They get frustrated because there's so many different ways of doing something and they become overwhelmed and blame the language for being too confusing.

People who hate TIMTOWTDI are those who have better things to do than learning every dark corner of a convoluted, bloated mess of a language just to be able to understand code written by other people.

It took me a while to warm up to it, but I ended up really enjoying the game. I'm pretty mid-level though - can't beat a lot of the songs on extreme, so ymmv.
