The Sussman served memory. He allocated his visitor's stack full, and then kept on allocating.

The professor watched the stack overflow until he no longer could restrain himself. "It is overfull. No more will go in!"

"Like this stack," The Sussman said, "you are full of your own opinions and speculations. How can I show you Zen unless you first empty your stack?"

You recursively define what is obviously a reification of knowledge. Knowledge is much wider concept then your koan is. Koan is like defining something by the way it interacts with your mind, not its content.
The Zen masters think they can "enlighten" people by making common pattern breaking stories, which are simple stories, not koans. The meaning you assign to them is the "Koan", and when you confronted with the "Koan" which defies its "Koanity" you get confused but refuse to admit you reify the knowledge into "koans" when koans do not exist.
