If you tell Donald E. Knuth you discovered an error in TAOCP, or a bug in his software - it doesn't matter if it's an old, known and corrected problem - and emphasize that he somehow forgot to credit or compensate you, he'll send you a check (in US dollars) and a t-shirt.

If you're having problems with backspace in Vim, try setting bs=2.

If you need to get information about how to do something in PHP, you can just open your web browser and type in php.net/ and then the name of the function, and it will bring you right to the documentation for the function. From there you can even scroll down and see suggestions other people have made about how to use the function. It is very helpful when making web pages.

Wrong, he's stopped doing that.  You'll get some kind of do-good point instead.

what exactly was the point of making a post and then making a complementary post two fucking minutes later instead of making a single post to begin with

what exactly was the point
Any questions regarding /prog/ cannot begin this way.

The post was deleted by /prog/ moderators because it contain my tripcode(!FrOzEn2BUo). The post were about Knuth stopping paying money with link to his MIT page quoting him.

protip: the current incarnation of ancient coding tools such as emacs and vim, and languages such as lisp, are so gored with decades old cruft that they are doomed to fail in a fiery ball of shit. However, because they are continually worshiped and espoused by tight-anus pretentious fags, that failure will be long in coming, but the eventual flaming shit pile will be so epic beyond compare that, upon impact, it will produce an explosion of shit rivaling the big-bang.

Don't change these.
