Windows as a router

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-06 3:22

Hello. How do I use windows as a (not NAT, but a real) router for my Enterprise network? Everyone must be doing it since windows has 95% market share.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-06 3:23

Enable internet connection sharing.

But how do I filter and shape traffic?

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-06 3:39

you buy a fucking program, was that the point of this thread? to accentuate the fact that all traffic shaping programs for linsux and bsd are free while on windows they have to be bought

if that is the case then you my good sir have no life and need to be replaced on this earth because windows in itself is not free, it costs money

if you want a higher learning curve and good stable free software to do anything you want with enterprise networks then use free unix based systems

if you want a fancy desktop with a trash bin then use microsoft

which program though? I need to be able to detect bittorrent and irc traffic masquerading as http. please advise.

Thank you for your response; however, Traffic Shaper XP seems to be mostly for throttling and only offers filtering/shaping based TCP/IP headers (as opposed to actual content of the packets). Please advise.

Isn't inspecting each packet on router wasting alot of bandwidth/CPU time?
if you want deep packet inspection you should use some standalone internet appliance.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-06 9:06

Not if it's a low-bandwidth consumer link. Then even the copyins/copyouts won't matter.

Your quoting inefficiently. I wouldnt make such trivial mistake, as I am very good at posting on the internet. Me, I would write a Javerscript program to automatically generate these posts and then post it on my BLOG.
You have read my BLOG right?

OK, I give it to you. That's funny.

Its an invalid argument.
The is no point to ridicule my post at >>12 since
">>10" cannot be quoted more efficiently then it already is.

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-10 6:12

If the dude is stating he found the post funny, how can it be invalid? Are you saying something is can only be funny to anyone if it can be proven funny?

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-10 6:18

>>16
Funny posts can be invalid posts if they contain wrong statements(which don't correspond to reality).

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-10 6:49

>>13
What about my quoting?

Name: Anonymous 2009-01-10 7:00

>>18
It implied the post you quoted.
