When I compile my program it compiles in Firefox code, and is properly displayed in any browser. HTML WRITES ONCES RUNS ALL OVER THE PLACE

You probably mean Javascript. And several do not follow standards(like IE),making them not "runs anywhere" without special compatibility code which use (e.g. IE) functions.

no, I believe Anon means Firefox Code that Runs Everywhere.

HTML is not executable code. Its cannot run, only be displayed.

People use JavaScript? I thought we had all moved onto JAVA.

JavaScript (tracemonkey) is faster then java,is used more widely, and is programmed by more programmers then all other languages combined. You're misinformed.
>>42 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Objective-J
Objective-J is a programming language developed as part of the Cappuccino web development framework. Its syntax is nearly identical to the Objective-C syntax and it shares with JavaScript the same relationship that Objective-C has with the C programing language: that of being a strict, but small, superset; adding traditional inheritance and Smalltalk/Objective-C style dynamic dispatch to JavaScript. Pure JavaScript, being a prototype-based language, already has a notion of object orientation and inheritance, but Objective-J adds the use of class-based programming to JavaScript.
Programs written in Objective-J needs to be compiled before being run by web browsers' JavaScript virtual machine. This compilation can occur in the web browser at runtime by a compiler which compiles Objective-J programs into pure JavaScript code. The Objective-J compiler is written in JavaScript, consequently deploying Objective-J programs requires no plugin needs to be attached to the web browser.

Why because "plenty of rappers have stupid names" Formof:alot of X have Y
and "Objective-J sounds like of them" Formof:Z is similar to Y
It follows "Objective-J is a rapper name"? Your conclusion:Z=X[/b]
Where is the logic?

I never implied that Objective-J was a rapper name, I was merely stating that Objective-J sounds like it could be a rappers name, and that >>42's post was a play on that.
>>48
If you "never implied that Objective-J was a rapper name"
Why did in your post in >>42 you say that Objective-J is [/i]part of rap music [/i] and >>46 you clarify its a rapper name.
Its a formof: I don't know X and therefore also don't know what J_of_X means.
"I'm sorry, I don't listen to rap music and have no idea who this ``Objective-J'' is. "

Although, it is difficult to tell when posting anonymously, I was not the poster of >>42. I'm not sure how this can be confirmed, but it is the truth.
>>46 states that Objective-J sounds like it could be a rappers name, and let's face it, if we posted the term Objective-J on a non-programming board there would be plenty of people who might think that it was a rapper.
Finally, we should emphasize that this was a joke and in-depth discussion about it and breaking it down has ruined the small amount of humor that could be derived from it. If you didn't chuckle a small bit when you read it, that's fine, however this argument has wasted enough time and I don't want to keep it going.
tl;dr It was a joke, taking it seriously was your mistake and this whole argument has been a waste of time

the post >>46 reduces the scope of >>42 connection to rap music to rapper names.
There is still no link between stupid name<>rapper name or link between Objective-J<>stupid name
>>51 the post >>46 reduces the scope of >>42 connection to rap music to rapper names.
Yes, correct. The connection to rap is rapper names.
Since you seem to have an underdeveloped sense of humor, I will spell it out for you.
>>42 sees the name Objective-J and thinks "Wow, that language's name sound like it could be a rapper's name. I bet that someone would get a kick out of it, if I pretended like it was a rapper and claimed a lack of knowledge about rap music"
The humor is completely derived from treating something which has nothing whatsoever with a topic and treating it like it does. It is a relatively simple joke formula, it has been used for years and still occasionally gives a decent result. For more information on humor, consult your beloved wikipedia.

Even if its an illogical joke there is still no connection
Objective-J --> stupid name --> rapper name
I can't understand what makes this connection possible.
If there is no connection between the ideas the joke is like garbled stream of random characters: sdihwe iuewfhywieu dwhd duiwhdpiuw diwueyfipeuw diwhfiuwhe ,which is not funny or not even a joke

Bumping this thread to remind you all how lucky we are that FV doesn't post anymore.
I use Racket, it compiles into a racketbyte code which is read by a Racket Virtual Machine or converted into machine code

Who said it was 3 people? It could be 100 and Anon has 32 other alter egos that have also read SICP.
Debate.

I've read chapter one, and did all the exercises last summer...
Then I realized that it wasn't the kind of language I should be learning as a sophmore CS student when all I fucking know is C, Java, actionscript, and html. (learning PHP CSS and MYSQL next)
...You guys don't know but people come here and actually believe that SICP is the holy grail to programming.
God whatever happened to forzenvoid? He was so weird I always tried to picture the person on the other side of the internet, and couldn't.
Though frozenvoid was somewhat intelligent, I doubt he was smart enough to come off as just being a weird smart guy that's worth keeping around.
Did he work? Was he over 18? Has he been with a woman? Does he live off social security? Did he graduate college? I couldn't ever quite decide.. does anyone here know anything about him?
