For me, 122 with 15 stddev

I got 126.
But you know that the only thing an IQ measures is your ability to solve silly tests, right? What the fuck is wrong with you, man, I bet you boast about your IQ. What moron invented these tests anyway, for what reason? So stupid people could feel better, and have something to talk about besides weather ("hurrr, wats ur iq i got 140")? Fuck this shit.

ITT we argue about arbitrary test results based on arbitrary, tiny subsets of human cognition. Stephen Hawking said it best (though I can't believe it took someone of his stature to finally admit it), "Anyone who cares about IQ is stupid".

115-130's have fun arguing, us 180's will be writing stories, programming, playing an instrument, doing math, or something intellectual like that.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 21:27

I got 100 for this test once, so I agree with Hawking.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 21:31

I got 110 but I wrote a Brainfuck compiler so I figure that bumps me up to about 130-140 range.

Ron

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 21:36

Hehe, I got 109, pretty high IMO.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 21:38

Can someone who got a high score what is going on in some of the last questions? I was doing pretty well until the last 6 or 7 when they became abstract as a Nomad.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 21:41

i had a REAL IQ test when i was a kid. got 140

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 22:02

118.

I found it odd that 38, which was quite obvious to me, was sandwiched between 37 and 39 which weren't obvious at all.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 22:12

Q32 read left to right. The line segment touching the line segment which pivots 90 degrees in the first "movement" is the one which rotates in the second "movement", giving the final column. Take the last row for example. The line on the bottom right rotates giving the X in the middle column. Now, the line directly adjacent to the now rotated first line segment, which will be the upper left line in middle column, is the one which needs to rotate to give the final column. So the answer is E

Q34 I think is arithmetic. Shaded circles inside the outer circle are positive integers. Circles outside are negative integers. The answer then is just the outer circle by itself (2 outside combined with 2 inside on the last row yield 0)

Q38 I think is F, if you take the middle arrow as an operator for the first column. The diagonal arrow corresponds to "stretch and rotate 45 degrees", though I'm not sure how the middle row works.

too lazy to post the rest. I still can't figure out 39 though, holy crap

I got 150 IQ when I was younger, but I'm currently taking retard math in high school. Doctors think I have a form of dyscalculia, which is like dyslexia but with numbers and maths.
For example, if I need to work out the sales tax for someone, I need someone to tell me precisely what to punch in the calculator - otherwise I'll simply forget what numbers I need to hit or I'll get confused.
Good thing conjuring computer spirits isn't related to math

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 23:51

Are we allowed to use a pencil and paper for this test?  Most of the problems are the sort of thing you solve just by looking at them, but a few of the later ones (number 39 in particular) seem to demand some kind of directed inquiry.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 23:54

I got 133 on that test, that last one completely stumped me.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 23:56

>>28
Maybe so, but at least one person on /b/ scored 145 legitimately.  He proved it by providing thorough and clear explanations for all of the hardest problems on the test.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-26 23:58

I spent about 15 minutes on it, got bored, left the rest blank, and got 130.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 0:02

Another thing you need to understand is that you shouldn't feel bad if you only get 110 on the test.
Many people lead successful lives with an IQ of 110, policemen, store clerks, garbage men, etc

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 0:04

IQ tests measure how good you are at taking IQ tests.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 0:05

The thing about IQ tests is that it measures how well you're able to reason about things, a skill which is only needed in a few jobs. For example, process line working, fast food operator, checkout person, store clerk attendant, shoe shiner, coal mine worker, etc are all very good professions which do not require a high IQ

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 1:52

this test fucking sucked, i did about the first 20 and realized it wasn't worth the fucking time so i randomly answered the rest. i got a 122 which only goes to show you that a monkey could score as good as a genius on this test. i retook it and  clicked random numbers for the entire test and it came up with a 99. come on if your going to post a test on /prog/ at least make it a good one not this shitbag.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 2:04

It provides a valid and useful measurement, though: anyone who actually clicked and went through with it is a failure.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 2:24

What kind of a hint are you interested in?  I could just tell you the answer, but you could probably solve it yourself if you worked at it in a systematic way.

One approach is to try and think of all the different ways you can turn one 3x3 grid into another, while preserving the property that there are three of each symbol.  Then apply your transformations to the grids given in the problem, and search for patterns there.

I didn't actually solve this myself at all; somebody posted the answer on /b/.  Now I'm wishing that I hadn't read it, because the problem really isn't that hard when you're not subject to the conditions of the test.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 2:28

Apparently I have a "mensa level" IQ whatever that means. All I do is sit around and get high all day.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 2:37

The thing about this test, the same with all tests, is that it is good at measuring people who are willing to take it seriously, however of course it's possible to dick around and still get a high IQ. It doesn't mean the test is flawed, it simply means that you need to grow up

So someone who just happens to randomly pick the correct answers proves that the test is flawed? As I said, this isn't the type of test set out on "failing" people. It's meant to be used as a measure of IQ; of your logic deducting and reasoning skills. You'll find that this test in particular is actually quite good and recommended by many institutions.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 2:46

i went to a psychiatrist once... put me on horrible pink pills that made me really aggressive and depressed all the time... and when i decided to quit taking that shit i ended up having a lot more problems... at least the one guy at school who used to beat me up all the time left me alone after i broke his nose, arm, and three of his ribs...

Leave, peasant.

Name: 61 2008-12-27 2:49

Perhaps I'm not making my point clear. Okay, so let's assume you're sitting in a job interview, and you must take some sort of aptitude test to ascertain whether or not you're suited for the job. If you were able to randomly guess and pass, then that would be an example of a flawed test.

However, this IQ test is not that kind of test. Think of it more like an eye exam. Sure, you could use a pair of binoculars and 'pass' the exam, but it's not going to prove anything, is it? On the other hand, people who take the eye exam seriously, will receive correct results regarding their vision quality.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 2:53

if you manage to 'pass' an eye exam with your eyes closed, the eye exam is flawed.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 2:59

if you manage to 'pass' an eye exam with your eyes closed, the eye exam is flawed.
I don't understand how this statement relates to the IQ test. Are you saying that you scored high in the test by not answering? Regardless, your point is moot. The test is meant for people willing to take it seriously. That means actually working through each question carefully and applying logical reasoning.

It's irrelevant if people are able to fly through the test and still score high - or in your case not answer at all (?) and still score high.

if you could go into an eye exam with your eyes closed and convince your eye doctor that you have 20/20 vision without opening your eyes at all, would you take that eye doctor seriously?

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 3:32

>>68
Yes, because one person being able to somehow pass the exam by fluke does not, nor should it, discredit the eye doctor and his examination. What is important is that the exam -does- work for people who take the exam seriously.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-27 14:41

Uh, what? Do you think there's some sort of elite school of geometric patterns which is solely devoted to teaching you how to recognize them? The point of the test is you're meant to deduce the answer using logical inferences and reasoning.

To quote the Info button on the test:
The test is Culture Fair, i.e. it minimises the effect of cultural variables, such as language, mathematics, etc. The test is based on logic, but is furthermore designed to test learning capability, memory, innovative thinking and the ability to simultaneously address several problems.
