Need Program written for amatuer

Name: Flynn 2008-12-11 5:22

Evening /prog/ I have a task for you. I'm in highschool and know nothing of real world programming. Know only Visual Basic, Pascal and Actionscript.

I've been hired by the school to make a swipe card system and need to make the program to run it.

Currently have:
Card scanners that work.
Cards to scan
2 x Touch screen computers

I need to somehow be able for them to scan there card and be signed in at the school, but i also need them to be able to sign out.

Having the information in access would create brownie points for the teacher. I currently have a list of names and the barcode number that corresponds to them.

Can you help?

You can't do it. Might as well give up right now! ( ゚ ヮ゚)

VB is fine for little stuff like this.  Make sure you make your own card have full admin access.

I can't believe they hired you.

You seriously can't figure it out?

sucks to be you OP.
why did you take a job you can't do?

No no /prog/
Skills are there, enthusiasm isn't.

I'm not actually asking for code, more like, what to do. If you wonderful people can tell me WHAT to do, I can code away like a grunt in no time.

1) Find out the API for your card readers. May not be usable in VB, if that's the case you'll have to learn C.
2) Code something to get the card ID with said API
3) Make a small DB with the IDs and people and whatnot
4) You're pretty much done

doesn't the school know that it would cost 10x less to buy the software instead of having it made custom by some shitty kid that can't even program at all? they will learn their lesson soon enough.

Sounds like the plot to an H-game.
A hot pink haired chick with glasses and a ponytail should pop up to help you about now.

I've been hired because i'm one of only 3 people in the current programming class, and the teachers with the skills to do it are to lazy to do it.

If the postcultural paradigm of reality holds, we have to choose between nationalism and Batailleist `powerful communication’. It could be said that Lyotard’s model of Debordist image suggests that discourse comes from communication, given that consciousness is distinct from truth. Sontag promotes the use of capitalist dematerialism to attack capitalism. Therefore, nationalism implies that narrativity may be used to exploit minorities.

In Junky, Burroughs reiterates the postcultural paradigm of reality; in Port of Saints, although, he affirms nationalism. However, Marx suggests the use of Derridaist reading to analyse consciousness. The example of Debordist image prevalent in Burroughs’s The Last Words of Dutch Schultz emerges again in The Soft Machine, although in a more mythopoetical sense. It could be said that Baudrillard promotes the use of the postcultural paradigm of reality to deconstruct sexism.

there are no skills required to buy software off a company instead of doing it themselves.
