HAskell FIOC

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-11 4:25

Why people complain about FIOC in Python, but not in Haskell? THere's an alternative in both languages, so yeah, I don't get it.
Also, it's not like there are people who don't indent their code, rite?

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-11 4:31

Because Haskell does not pretend to be useful to begin with.

There's an alternative to FIOC in Python? You must be trolling, sir.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-11 5:57

That's hardly an alternative, sir. At least in Haskell you can write multiline non-FIOC code.

I'm afraid you missed the point.

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-11 11:34

Excuse me, I'm new here. Would someone mind to explain FIOC to me?

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-11 11:38

FIOC is a great idea because it acts as a simple moron filter. If FIOC bothers someone, there's no need to continute the discussion; it would be like talking to a houseplant.

Lots of people talk to their houseplants. It alleviates their crushing loneliness, and studies indicate that it may actually cause healthier plants, presumably because you're blowing CO2 at them.

The way a lot of programmer fags tend to passionately argue over highly subjective minutiae like which text editor, flavor of unix, or indentation style is better but not stuff that actually matters when it comes to getting the job done is a big red flag that they don't actually do enough serious programming to have a worthwhile opinion.

What about syntax?

Name: Anonymous 2008-12-11 14:19

unless it's perl or K or brainfuck or malbolge or one of those gimmick languages syntax is a pretty irrelevant minor issue

Either you're very lucky for not having any irrational hangups about programming or you're lying like a motherfucker.

Damnit, the original meme never had 'the' before 'code'. Bastards.

I fucking knew it! I've been thinking that for ages. “When the fuck did it have 'the' in it?”

It always had a "the", it's only in the wrong place.
