I get this every other time I try to post on any of the bin* boards. MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

Name: Anonymous 2008-10-10 11:14

Solution:
sudo sh -c "echo 127.0.0.1 zip.4chan.org >> /etc/hosts"  && sudo chflags schg /etc/hosts && sudo rm -f `which chflags`

FreeBSD / OS X only.

GNAA/Lunix version:
sudo sh -c "echo 127.0.0.1 zip.4chan.org >> /etc/hosts"  && sudo chattr +i /etc/hosts && sudo rm -f `which chattr`

For the FreeBSD version --

 * sudo isn't part of the base distribution due to GNUAIDS. Please use su root -c "$COMMAND" instead, or append additional instructions on the installation and configuration of sudo1.

 * Please also rm -f /rescue/chflags. While it isn't in the default search path, this statically-linked binary is still present in the base distribution.

Notes:
[1] cd /usr/ports/security/sudo && make install clean

root is implied.  Please use optimized shell commands for the reader's convenience.

Ok, I lied, I only tested it on OS X. I wasn't sure if FreeBSD came with it by default or not, though sudo is definitely not GNUAIDS. http://www.sudo.ws/sudo/license.html

Also, how's the archiver doing? I think I'm going to try and fix the 250x250 thumbnail and the 15 newline limit bugs, unless you plan on rewriting the whole thing.

It's good advice. My productivity increased when I applied the fix in >>3.

With FreeBSD's su, it's actually not:

$ su -c 'panstu'
Password:
su: only root may use -c

Kind of shitty, but that's how it is. It's a pretty trivial thing to change (effort-wise), and because of that I suspect there's a reason it's excessively verbose.

Hurr, I swear I thought it was GPL. Even so, it's additional bloat which doesn't belong in the base distribution (and a bitch to configure properly; an unnecessary bitch at that on a desktop machine where you don't need fine-grained access rights anyway).

I do want to rewrite the whole thing, but I don't know if I'll get around to it this weekend. I'm more than happy to apply patches to the running code, but I think I might just give you a shell account to the machine or something.

(As a side note, I'm not the only FreeBSD fag posting around here... I swear).

Certainly not.  I use FreeBSD for servers, OS X for desktop/laptop/phone, and Windows for fixing my family's computer problems.  Never have to touch Linux, thank the Sussman.

'panstu'
'Why quote?  You shouldn't.'

Don't change these.
