I would like to know why everyone hates xkcd so much. The comics are clever, funny, and fresh, the author isn't trying to make a funny comic just to get rich, and the author has alot of neat ideas like mapping every IP address, mapping the internet, and Geohashing, among other stuff.
So those are my reasons why I like xkcd. I don't see what all the nerd rage is about. Please reply with good valid points of why you hate xkcd instead of the typical troll fest that /prog/ is.
I hate all the people who read xkcd for the sole reason of feeling smug that they get the references. It used to be a webcomic meant to humor the curious, but now it's just a self-referential shitfest geared to satiate the "haha only nerds like me would get this comic" crowd.
And Randall is a bastard and wholly responsible for taking it in that direction.
1) it is frequently not "clever, funny, and fresh."
2) the xkcd fanboys. my experience is that they are the "totally awkward in all social situations" type and not so much >>3-san's nerds.
3) sacrificing accuracy for accessibility in technical writing
You know what, I hate it when I wake up, load /prog/, and see an interesting topic I have something about to say, and then realise that people like >>4 said exactly what I wanted to say. :(

I used to like xkcd. Then it became popular. Now I hate it.

I used to be a huge xkcd fanboy. Then it began sucking hard.
xkcd simply seems to have run out of ideas, and is forcing a retread of the same humor. I suspect that people who recently started reading the strip would really like it as it's new to them; just give them the same amount of time, in which new fans will come in, etc, so there will always be xkcd fanLink, mah bois!

I liked xkcd better when it didn't abuse 4chan memes. I hate it when people do that.

A careful reading of my post would tell you that I frequent /jp/ far more than /g/. But sure, I'll go check it out to reassure myself that it's still a Vista vs XP trollfest.
