Hi, I am preparing to attend college for CS and I am looking at different languages to familiarize myself with programming. I have only a small amount of experience programming. I know I will probably get some bias in here but is ocaml a decent first language? I am not interested in python because of the forced indentation of code and the people I talk to have huge egos.

Name: Anonymous 2008-08-12 4:23

>>747
I haven't used ocaml much, though I would definitely say yes.  You'll learn the imperative languages in school, too, which will help you learn how the machine does things behind the scenes (if you throw the shit out that the prof drools at you and use the college to gain experience and knowledge yourself).
