Webdesigners gone mad

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-03 18:02

Am I the only one here thinking web designers are taking themselves way too serious?
It seems like they are trying to make their specialization more than it really is.
Whining about proper naming of ID's and CLASS's and semantic web development.
None of these concepts are new and most of the new standards being developed for HTML/CSS/etc are just straight out bullshit.
There's dozens of DOCTYPE's no one will ever use and developers get a hard on when their page validates XHTML 1.0 Strict.
Take google for example.. okay this might not be the hardest site in the world but it refuses to validate and infact doesn't even has a fucking DOCTYPE set.
The most visited page in the world does NOT validate, and who cares? no one, because it works.

Oh and I know HTML/CSS is not programming, this just seemed like the right board to dump my frustrations.
Enjoy.

Sure, standards should be respected.
The Google argument was stupid I guess.
Nevertheless web developers think they're the new artists of this century, spending hours and hours reading and discussing web development on blogs and forums.
"No that font size will just not do, and add some more spacing between the characters"
"You should really rename your menu id to leftbluemenu instead of menu to make it more clear"
"Are you kidding me? you are using images on your website? haha you fail, true web designers create text only websites"
Not to even speak about the idiots crying tears of joy over semantic websites.. <strong> / <b> and <em> / <i> discussions.
It's like a fucking cult forcing their ways upon us.
