i just spent a couple hours reading a Cisco CCNA book.
how the hell do networkers do it? its like watching paint dry,
atleast programming is interesting and entertaining.
i have a new found respect for networkers, but i also cant help but wonder what type of person can actually read this stuff and not want to beat themselves till with the >1000 page books to try and put themselves out of their misery and boredom

It's because you got a shitty book.
Get TCP/IP Illustrated and study. (It's a trilogy)
Theory is kinda boring, it's the thing you have to endure.
The implementation, fuck me, it's awesome.
>>3 (not really really good sex though)
Says the virgin. Truth is, programming is better than sex, no matter how good sex was. then
than.

Programming is enjoyable when done properly.
Sex is enjoyable when done properly.
Programming cannot be done concurrently and properly with sex.
Therefore programming is still better than programming and sex together.
Can we have one damn topic that you don't turn into gay sex?

The internet was written by hackers, and they had fun. Making, implementing and testing new network protocols is great, (hell to debug, though.)
Thus, what's boring isn't the networks themselves. What's boring is all the Enterprise. Real Enterprisers can't stand watching paint dry, because there's not enough associated paperwork, and there's no 700-page ISO standard to follow.

"A LAN party of programmers fucking each other in the ass while playing CS:S?"
Ah...
"CS:S is gay"
I don't think that's a very important issue...

Theory is always boring
Building something and knowing you created (LIKE PROGRAMS) is worth while.

No, theory is not always boring. It can bring real, joyous enlightenment to one's mind.
