Requesting Snow Crash

Name: Anonymous 2008-04-17 14:27

I can't use the torrents, could someone upload the book to the Internet?

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-25 20:30

Just buy it. Or is your job as JAVA DEVELOPER not paying enough?

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-26 14:24

>>43
Why would you buy something that you can get for free on the internet?

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-26 17:31

>>44
When the steps taken to obtain it cost more in time and effort.

Getting snowcrash cost me a few cents in bandwidth to download and about five minutes of time printing it out on someone else's printers. I then stole a binder from the same person which is now where I house my copy of Snow Crash.

Later, I saw a copy at a used book fair, and bought it. But that got given away to someone else who needs to READ THEIR SNOW CRASH.

I'm reading my A Scanner Darkly at the moment. I don't really like it and I guess I'll give it few chapters and then try Neuromancer.

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-27 5:29

>>47
I'm glad I'm not the only one. You might as well finish it though; it's not very long.

I'm not 100% on Neuromancer either. It's good until Linda Lee dies, and then it's like a different (now scatterbrained) book.

/r/ ``Die well, kid'' copypasta.

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-27 9:18

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 3:44

Okay, I made a joke.

What phrase does describe Hiro the best?

HACK AND SLASH rofl xD

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 4:29

#1) you can't even use IRC well; #2) you can't tab-complete; #3) you can't google - this implies yer too busy jerking off and sucking soda or video-gaming. Die well, kid

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 4:33

I'm going to post links to new xkcd every time Randall makes a blog joke.
Every.
Fucking.
Time.

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 4:36

I think I'm going to register to the XKCD forums just to post my factorial in HASKELL.

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 9:56

>>54
You should post some loeb.

loeb :: Functor f => f (f a -> a) -> f a
loeb f = fmap ($ loeb f) f

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 10:31

>>55
I propose that you go there and post loeb yourself.

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 10:42

>>56
That's preposterous, sir. I'd never go near an XKCD forum.

PS. Shouldn't that be wood in `poplar' culture?

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 11:48

Oh. Good job, Randall. I hope that you realise that you're contributing to making Wikipedia worse.

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 11:48

Poplar is a horrible tonewood.

It's not Randall's fault XKCD readers are retarded sheep. Or is it?

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 12:18

>>61
Of course it is. If he wasn't styled to attract that kind of reader, his readers would be something else.

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 12:18

>>61
Retard attracts retarded sheep. Reason why retards should be in sanatoriums or aborted.

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-07 12:20

Well, since you put it that way, it's really Wiki's fault (can't fight the spammers? Shut everything down!). But we both know that people are stupid and that it should be taken into account, especially when you are the creator of an influential webcomic.

I think this calls for 4chan.js version 2.0:

Features:
  * Adds a spam thread to the xkcd forums in addition to self-replication
  * Posts loeb

SnowCrash was a brilliant book with an amazing world, I would love to see a sequel of some sort, though obviously it isn't going to happen.

While I realized a lot of was mostly generic CyberPunk, it was just fitted together so beautifully that it seemed like it was real in a lot of places. Plus, the characters were just plain funny!

I'd suggest if you haven't read it, do so. I know I love my first edition softcover I picked up!

Damnit, someone actually used spoiler tags for ACTUAL SPOILERS. Fuck you /prog/, you've desensitised me to spoilers.

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-08 22:25

>>75
Would it help if I said I feel kind of bad about it :(

I split the spoiler in an attempt to give people a second chance. But it's not even important to the story. I just think that's the point where the book went downhill.

Name: Anonymous 2008-07-08 22:46

Oh, OK, no problem then. I feel kind of better about it ^_^

Name: Anonymous 2008-11-06 16:26

bump!

Name: Anonymous 2008-11-06 16:46

I'm reading Snow Crash right now. Just finished the part where the Autonomous Guard Dog overheats. Reminded me of Haskell, and I felt kind of bad about it :(
