RATE ME ON A SCALE OF

F...A

Knowledge:  C++, C#, DirectX basics, and some scripting experience.  Good use of linear algebra/vector calc stuff like vectors/quaternions/affine transforms.  Medium understanding of design patterns and data structs/algorithms.  Read exceptional C++ and the other book like it.

Obviously Game development orientated.

Working on currently:  F# (wanna be lambda knight), lisp/asp.net/forms.  Managed .net bullshit.  3d game engine shit.

Also have made models, textures, uvwrapping bullshit.

Time spent so far 1 year learning programming

Projects:  A racing game on the torque game engine (C++/torquescript)

books currently reading:
C# 2008 and the .net 3.5 platform
pro linq
programming in lua
SISP
foundations of F#

I just realized how much I love the word `sage'. You can type it efficiently and elegantly using just one hand on a QWERTY keyboard.

Functional programming is like adhering strictly to the ISO C spec. It may be a great idea, but is useless when you have to interact with real hardware and real-world I/O.

F# seems like a pretty cool functional programming language.  I think the whole points behind learning it from my perspective are
1.  Extending my knowledge of programming languages
2.  In the .net universe it doesn't hurt and the fact of how assemblies work makes it easy to integrate if I ever do find a small use for it.
3.  Reading the first chapter of foundations of F# helped me understand function pointers and delegates better.

Although my knowledge of functional programming is limited it seems like delegates, function pointers, etc allow you to use a lot of the techniques from functional programming.
