Python confession

Name: Anonymous 2008-03-03 22:21

Guys, I have something of a confession to make.

I love Python. I seriously do. Strong dynamic typing is awesome, so are lists and dictionaries, and people who BAWWWWWWW over forced indentation need to quit submitting entries to IOCCC and realize that forced indentation is a good thing.

This might just be one of those "Oh shit, I'm learning a new language, it's all novel and fresh for me, I love it." We'll see. I've been using Java for over four years now. Python is quite a breath of fresh air.

Oh God, why is Linux Tarballs such a good troll. Look at the classics "I'm right because I'm right." and the "Large group of people are stupid and do it wrong, and no, I'm not going to explain why."

Heretic people all over the world have claimed that this inconsistency is ...  well ...  inconsistent, but all right-thinking people know that (a) K&R are _right_ and (b) K&R are right.

You've probably been told by your long-time Unix
user helper that "GNU emacs" automatically formats the C sources for you, and you've noticed that yes, it does do that, but the defaults it uses are less than desirable (in fact, they are worse than random typing - a infinite number of monkeys typing into GNU emacs would never make a good program).
