Where to start?

Sup /prog/.

I've been messing around with Qbasic for a while... what programs SHOULD I be learning/studying to learn programming? I was thinking maybe Visual Basic? C#? Help me out here /prog/.

I don't know about #2, but I'd suggest something like Python if you're starting from nothing.  It's got a fairly gentle learning curve from just stringing together "Hello world!" to OO or functional programming; and being interpreted, has a fast feedback for mistakes.

Or perhaps Ruby, if you feel like a little mind expansion with "Why's poignant guide", otherwise like Python but a bit steeper learning curve.
