13:56:02 < quicksilver> the correct jump to be making is procedural -> FP
13:56:19 < quicksilver> OOP should only be learnt after 5 years of FP study.
13:56:26 < quicksilver> then it can be discussed as a breif curiosity
13:56:43 < quicksilver> "some other people tried this other paradigm, which is extremely bad for the following 99 reasons"
13:57:01 < quicksilver> "if you find someone using OOP, you should laugh at them and not hire them"
IRC is for people that have nothing against being pressured on to write a reply quickly, without thinking on or checking the message. Such people are definitely unsuave.

There are a lot of things you just can't do elegantly when using purely functional programming. It's not the panacea it's made out to be.
>>4 1) Examples? 2) The vast majority of those cases is caused by the programmer not understanding the paradigm well enough. In other words, you are not EXPERT PROGRAMMER enough. 3) Use monads.

It's moderately amusing, sometimes. But usually, yeah - it sucks.

It's infested with VB "programmers". The same concept with real programmers might be funny.

I used to be annoyed with the disdain people show VB programmers, as that is one of the languages I often use (at work) and I create some fine programs with it. But then I started looking at other people's VB code, most of whom hadn't had a CS education, and realised why.

The conventional format is the use of arguments and call cmake followed by a number greater than zero and a closing parenthesis is a recursive call of the lookup table to outside of the mario riding yoshi lisp and the superior implementations ITT are no less.
