>>65 Lisp/Scheme/Haskell/Assembly: All too complicated for an introductory language. Good for learning later, though. Scheme SCHEME
What a gigantic faggot. Scheme was invented by the sole purpose of being an introductory language.

WTF. Prefix style and sexp style syntax is probably THE easiest style of syntax around. The most difficult thing about Lisp-likes would be cons and bracket counting.

And now we learn why we do not fuck with /prog/

ITT: instead of flaming each other we flame people on another board.
how i love you, /prog/
I like Sussman because he is a programmer like me, except he know how to program. Oh god I wish I knew how to program too ;_;
Sussman also likes Scheme and he is Enterprise-ready. And there are programs in the book and that's good because I like copying and I will never write one of my own. Why am I such a loser?!
Sussman is like my dreamman he has a ~E hat I love that. He is also nice why aren't real men nice!? I got dumped a lot of times but I love Sussman and he wouldn't dump me because he's so nice and cool.
We would program Scheme all day and read SICP and other cool books on programming, and I would have sex with him because sex is so good. I wish I could have sex with an old man.

On one stormy night, the sky bright with thunder
knock knock at the door - who is that, I wonder
I dash to the gate, open it, I sunder
'tis a filthy snake, at my mat, down under!
I speak carefully, not to make a blunder:
``who be thee, thou spawn of evil?
beast from times before medieval
serpent! the tempter primeval!''
-- in my soul a great upheaval
``demon! how come you were tapping?
at my door so gently rapping?
limbless, cursed to move by wrapping!''
The slimy beast hissed, and so before my eyes
I beheld a man - in appearance so wise
I recognised him, now without the disguise
My throat unleashing so desperate cries:
``Infidel! Once a great wizard,
now a slimy tricky lizard
stealing through the flames and blizzard
what be thy business, ex-wizard?''
Thus he spake, the voice bestowed:
``son, you walk the evil road
all what I have you once shown
all what you thanks to me own
now shall within you explode
and have I so forebode:
not through Scheme does point the road
in my mind had always flowed: FORCED INDENTATION OF CODE''
>>5698 They only ban people talking about scheme or the sicp because they have been trolling the board. It's not like there aren't enough places on the internet to discuss scheme (which isn't actually such a bad language)
Alright /pr/ Im REALLY new to programming and im in my first programming class at college. Im only in pascal which im sure everyone here can yell newb at me, but like i care right? Anyway i was wondering what a good free compiler for pascal is. We have turbo pascal at school and Delphi, but delphi is costly.

The trick is to subtly inject references to SICP and Scheme in various threads. Going into a thread and blurting out ``ATTENTION READ SICP. PLEASE RAPE MY FACE'' is bound to lead to failure.

It's true. I posted a blatant Scheme troll but without a SICP image and am unscathed.

Was a /prog/snake. Now they delete+ban any thread that mentions SICP or Scheme.

If you answered "Yes" to all of the above questions, then SICP (STRUCTURE AND INTERPRETATION OF COMPUTER PROGRAMS) might be exactly what you've been looking for! Read SICP (STRUCTURE AND INTERPRETATION OF COMPUTER PROGRAMS) today, and enjoy all the benefits of being a satorized SICP reader. SICP (STRUCTURE AND INTERPRETATION OF COMPUTER PROGRAMS) is the fastest-growing SMUG LISP WEENIE community with THOUSANDS of members all over the Internet! You, too, can be a part of SICP if you join today! Why not? It's quick and easy - only 3 simple steps!
* First, you have to obtain a copy of SICP and read it. You can read it online using your favorite web browser.
* Second, you need to succeed in founding a Lisp-related meme in /prog/ on world4chan, a popular "programming for trolls" website.
* Third, you need to join the official SICP home /prog/ on world4chan, and apply for membership.
Talk to one of the satorized overlords or any of the other members in the board to sign up today! Upon submitting your application, you will be required to submit links to your successful meme, and you will be tested on your knowledge of STRUCTURE AND INTERPRETATION OF COMPUTER PROGRAMS. If you are having trouble locating /prog/, the official STRUCTURE AND INTERPRETATION OF COMPUTER PROGRAMS board, you might be on a wrong web sight. The correct address is http://dis.4chan.org/prog/. Follow this link if you are using a http client such as telnet. If you have Sussman points and would like to support SICP, please don't sage this post.

True. I meant: if you want to go to /pr/ and expand /prog/'s trolling horizons I support you, but there is no need to post /pr/ fail here. Keep it in its box.

Can we include this thread in /pr/'s box? I can't stand to go there and see all the fail at once, but small highlights of failure aren't as abysmally bad.

Oh, I guess. But if you were doing your part for the /prog/ invasion of /pr/ you'd be over there a few times every day anyway. My hope is that with a combination of trolling and lambda propoganda they can be turned into a sort of (less expert) mini-/prog/. I look forward to meeting my clone (now neither of us, &c).
