What's the magic behind this book? Will it only teach me LISP, good programming practice or light the way to salvation for my immortal soul or what's the deal? Why should i read it? Should i read all of it or just certain chapters?

It'll teach you principles you can use in other languages.
If you have a short attention span, work on that first haha.
SICP is basically equivalent to any introductory data structure and computer science course. In fact, it's the same book used for the introductory Computer Science course at MIT (intended for fresh out of high school undergraduates)
