There could conceivably be patented smoothie recipes (I don't know of any, though in the general soft drink area, something like Coca Cola comes to mind), so I guess it kind of makes sense to call a smoothie that fully discloses its recipe "open source".

coca cola is patented? i don't think so. i thought the ingredients / preparation methods were kept under wraps because of the law protecting trade secrets.
