Somebody, please hijack this thread into something useful we can talk about.

How would you create a nice looking if-else if-else `chain' in Factor?

Nesting if blocks looks ugly/impractical to me

Nah, not really. There's just some quirks I'd like to know how to deal with. I just started playing around with it since yesterday, so.

most if not all languages start as toys. Maybe except stuff like java and c#. C definitively started as a toy.

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-21 20:24

Don't forget Ada, definitely started out as a toy.

Well Haskell is still a toy, LISP is still a toy and Factor will definitely stay a toy.

There's no support or interest from anyone who matters, just a few toy language loons who never write real programs anyway.

WHAT DO YOU CALL DARCS???

OH NOES! ARE YOU SAYING A FEW PROGRAMS OF THE SEVERAL MILLION THAT  PROBABLY EXIST ARE ACTUALLY WRITTEN IN TOY LANGUAGES?!

WHAT YOU SAY !!!

Get a fucking grip, you failure. Most people who use these bloated pieces of crap never write any programs worth mentioning.

Brainfuck... all else is failure

I'm a fan of bandannas, I must say. When your hair is past your eyes, they're helpful for keeping your hair out of your face. But gangstas had to turn them into something besides something functional, meaning anyone wearing one would be wearing gang related clothing. Seriously, gangstas don't even have long hair, and they sure as hell don't work hard so they aren't to absorb sweat.

Gangstas are scum.

Just get a bandana that couldn't possibly be gang-related. Something pink with a cute logo on it or something.

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-22 1:29

Maybe not to you. Clearly, not everyone is the same.

Whether or not anyone likes to admit it Sussman is one of the leading figures in Computer Science, period. There will be a package waiting on your door this afternoon.

I implemented Whitespace in Haskell.

sorry i like using it but i   came up with   procedural code with   vi and gcc   1 40 and   I appreciate the   usage of GPL   code must also   argue that switches   breaks and continues   to improve at   a dramatic pace.
