Actionscript 3.0 - Why is it so hard?

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-18 20:54

Why the fuck did they make AS3.0 so hard? AS2.0 was great since it was scripting and easy..but AS3.0 is all OO and complicated with tons of imports and includes and .as files and flex and shit, it's driving me fucking crazyyyy!

1. Just because it's harder doesn't mean it's better or more professional.
2. How does it allow you to do "more"? I haven't seen any new features other than fucking up all my syntax so I can't re-use my AS2.0 scripts...
3. Can I still stick with AS2.0 and if so, for how long?

wwwaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!! OO!

I think AS3 is JavaScript with more fail. They should have focused on fixing the numerous flaws of the language (esp. shitty types, shitty arrays and shitty dictionaries) instead of making it ENTERPRISE. But oh well, enterprises will be enterprises-

My sympathy goes to all the poor souls that has to withstand actionscript and could not upgrade to Java or some sort of C variant

Yes, I am an Actionscript programmer. So? I don't see any problem.

Yes, I am a Schemer. So? I dont see any problem. I embraced my functional dick long ago and I am happy together with my cudder (who is my other car!). We have a lot of friends in and outside of the fandom and I am pretty slime and tail-recursive.

But thanks anyway asshole. Go and mess with your fucking von Neumann machine shit while I write SEXP with my Lisp machine.

It takes me 30 minutes to code something with AS3.0 that I could have coded in 2 minutes with AS2.0.
That's the problem.

I see your problem; you want to use ActionScript. Learn to Python or even %&^*&@)*#*&perl%&^*, foe YHWH's sake.

Goddamnit, I'm going to have to appreciate AS3 now because of your faggot ass.

WTF, Try making a large scale app in as2, silent fails and loose typing will just lead you to headaches. It wins just on strong typing, and the speed. Once you get your head round it, you will find it a hell of a lot easier. Oh, Flex is awesome, you can make sweet guis with minimal hassle.

You probably don't understand what loose and strong typing mean anyways.
