XML-RPC is made of AIDS and fail, just like its butt buddy SOAP. It has a slightly lower viral load, however.

I tried sending and receiving SOAP btwn PERL and Java. Just don't do it. XML-RPC wasn't much better, due to butt-hurt PERL implementations.
Go for REST, it's much simpler.

XML-RPC is the enterprise version of RPC: a great idea, wrapped in enterprise bullshit (XML). It sucks, but it's better than SOAP, which is more enterprise than you can handle without vomiting.
