sup /prog/.
I'm going to college for computer science and I need a laptop. It should last me four years as I don't think I'm going to be able to work another computer into the budget. It does *not* need to be able to run commercial games, because I'm not a big PC gamer, but it should be able to run emulators pretty well as I love classic games.
Can you recommend brands/models? I mean, I don't know anything about PC brands because my parents are macfags and I've been using a fucking Mac my whole life. Perhaps a Mac is great if you're a moron, but if you like running... well, anything, it's a constant source of frustration as almost everything I want to do on it is either a huge pain in the ass, or in most cases, flat-out impossible. I mean, I know if I get a Mac, it'll be a new Intel Mac and I can run PC apps to a degree (although I've heard there are hoops to jump through.)
So: brands. Name them.
