I am currently ordering some books on programming, I am getting SICP and a book on C++, but I'm not sure whether to get Accelerated C++ by Koenig or The C++ Programming Language by Bjarne Stroustrup - keep in mind I have limited experience with BASIC and C from my youth, and I know Java (fail, aids yes).
tl;dr what should I get? any other recommendations?
"The C++ Programming Language" is crap. I have a copy on my desk right now. It is too clunky and verbose to read as a guide for insightful examples, and it isn't nearly specific enough to use as a reference for the language standard.

You should read K&R more as an insight into the history of programming languages, rather than a guide to modern-day software development. Sure, there are times when you might need to use C or C-style techniques, but it's more likely that you'll enjoy and be more productive in higher-level languages.

The problem that has happened to me speaks about a pattern and think they all sucked and how to MODIFY IT AFTER you count the amount of links downloaded and the rest of the granite I had to will zeroes and ones into existance WITH MY happy positive numbers.
