I suspect he may be in a rare situation where he has achieved satori in his programming endeavors, but it has not permeated his entire existence, possibly because he has neglected everything else in the world.
This could serve as a good warning to future walkers of the path.  Though it is through programming that one gains enlightenment, if one allows the struggle to consume them then it is for naught.
