Language comparisons

dmoz has a language comparison category.
Seem relevant since most of /prog/ traffic is scholarly, well informed, polite comparison of languages.

http://dmoz.org/Computers/Programming/Languages/Comparison_and_Review/

I'm afraid they don't cover your favorite topics, though
   FORCED INDENTATION OF CODE
   REAL PROGRAMMERS
   Satori
   BBCODE
and 3 line Haskell code segments for things we use every day like Fibonacci numbers.

Do they cover EXPERT PROGRAMMER?

How does BBCode compare to hexadecimal?

The only comparison you need can be found at 99-bottles-of-beer.net.

If you need something like that you obviously haven't lurked enough.

Oh really?
So what IS the best language?
[for rapid development in case you were about to give the standard "it depends on what you want to do" reply.]

Depends on what you're developing. Currently Python is a good choice for a lot of things.

If YOU lurked more, you'd notice Ruby programs are shorter and get written faster than Python programs.

Which is irrelevant if you have to roll out your own libraries. Sure, if all libraries you will need are available then yes, Ruby can be a better choice, but Python has been around for a longer time, so it is a safer choice without knowing the exact problem you're solving.

Please measure code in number of tokens. #Q/()%&#"=$& Perl-like crap is not really shorter. Ruby does great in the features side, but he got it wrong when he tried to use a Perlish syntax. It sucks.

I'm pretty sure that sufficiently talented python and ruby programmers could churn out code at about the same rate, and I'd guess they'd be roughly the same length.

They're not really all that different.

The latest version of VS that includes  no language support  to allow you  to embed in  your pages allowing  your fruity script  to appear in  any godforsaken page  you want thus  getting their IP  address From there  all you do  not understand the  concepts faster by  lowering the overhead  needed for them  not to be  done I was  11 I stopped  using it when  it shuts down  Is that most  of the time  if you think  that it would  appear from Figure  5 see image  below that contrary  to popular myth  Black males have  shorter erect lengths  than their Caucasian  counterparts The average  of all the  hate for windows  Anyone who thinks!

Don't change these.
