I would prefer to just use Camping or Rails but my webhost is a bit of a jerk and likes to kill your processes.
So just simple small MVC Frameworks in PHP

It's also one of those shitty languages that any employer will want you have experience in, kind of like Java.

(If you're applying for a web-development job.)

Well PHP is not hard, it's very easy, i never touched it before and i learned most of it in 10-20 minutes or so.
but yeah, PHP fails, web developers fail harder.

Where I work, if PHP is the LAMP language you're most familiar with, it works against you. It's better not to have it on your resume, even if you know no other popular LAMP language.

Yes, I'm serious.

I once extended Lotus 123 with a ton of extra functions I wrote in C [because the client knew 123]. I couldn't mention it on my resume because everyone saw "Lotus 123" and barfed. People that do the hiring are stupid, because the smart people are too busy to do interviews. So when you interview, remember that stupid people hate it when you talk over their heads, and they hate to be called on their idiocy.
