Web Programming Skills for thr Workplace

I was wanting to know what sort of languages does one need to know for web development?

I keep seeing alot of jobs asking for J2MEE and ASP.net skills. Some even ask for C# skills.

I see very little in terms of PHP skills. Has PHP dropped down in terms of commercial usage nowadays?

Most companies only use one server-side language for the majority of their web development needs. While knowing several languages is good and pretty much necessary for career growth, you'll want to start out by mastering one language and getting a job in that.

Also, PHP is still near the top in terms of language popularity.
