http://www.htdp.org/

Which do I read? My only programming experience consists of a year of AP CS A. Java stuff.

htdp is supposedly easier on the newbie.
but you'll need to read sicp sooner or later.

read SICP

I've read both (although I did skip HTDP a bit). They overlap only partly, SICP emphasizes CS more and HTDP is a bit heavier on program design. If you're going to read only one, make sure it is SICP. Both are very fine, though.

I'm a complete beginner and I wanted to start with SICP, but couldn't comprehend it so I am reading HTDP now. Easy as hell, I'm skipping some parts, but this should be a good intro to SICP.

It is not incorrect to say that someone has said a question. Asking is a sub-type of saying.

how can people even seriously consider putting HTDP above SICP? some of the schemers do and it's just... what? What's wrong with them?

Name: Anonymous 2011-11-03 16:38

HTDP = SICP for dummies
