Some guy came into #C++ on freenode and asked, "If we see char (signed) as the fundamental type in C, what is the fundamental type in C++?"
When pressed for what he meant by "fundamental type", he eventually said "THE BUILDING BLOCK FOR ALL THINGS GOOD" (with the capslock).
So I ask you now /prog/: what is THE BUILDING BLOCK FOR ALL THINGS GOOD in C++?

There's a number of fundamental types, not just one.

I'd say that the fundamental type in C++ is also a (signed) char.
