Computer Programming Associates Degree

Name: fatalexe 2007-05-22 4:47 ID:kC+GXAEP

I just scored a degree from my local community collage.
Teachings went,
PASCAL -> C++ --> Visual Basic --> Java --> PHP/MySql/JS/PEAR
My final project using HTML_AJAX really impressed everybody but it isn't production ready at all IMHO. I've gotten a few job offers but being in the middle of Appalachia doesn't seem to be good for a programming career. More school isn't outa the question either. Just need the money to pay fer it!

Where should I go now?

I've been thinking Honolulu or some other big city...

C++ --> Visual Basic

Lucky guys, I went from:

C++ -> C -> Java -> C -> Python -> C++ -> Java

Name: Anonymous 2007-05-22 6:50 ID:pkCcVNnY

At university, I went from Java -> Prolog -> Haskell

But when I entered the world of work, VB6 -> VB.Net -> C++

Where do Python, Haskell, and Lisp fit in?

They are right to the wall of illumination.

No, no, it's simply a chart of how I learned things, and how well I know the different languages.

I hardly know Haskell and almost no Python, so they're not on it.

Clipper -> Visual Basic -> Java -> Perl -> C++ -> C -> Fortran

Yes, I really did learn Fortran last. It was for my honours project in physics. Blast from the past.

C++ -> C -> Matlab -> Ada -> Java -> Python -> Lisp

Yes, they actually use Ada as a teaching language at my univ

Still 3 more years of college. Everything before C++ I learned before college.
