1)hacking a site using sql injection does not make one a script kiddie, it's an useful attack technique and if you notice the system is vulnerable and you have no quicker or better ways to compromise it,then its a good idea to take it >>17
2)wether someone uses his own exploits or somebody else's when hacking a system depends on the given target, if the target is vulnerable to known exploits then it makes sense to use them.
If its vulnerable to your own, again it makes sense to use them.
The general type of script kiddie is the one that will pick a known public exploit and search for large numbers of servers/pcs/etc either by scanning, google searching,or making some worm/bot and then exploiting them. The use of such machines are usually for resources(bandwidth/downloading/irc bots/warez storage/etc, ddos attacks, distributed bruteforcing) or useful information(customer info and the like). Unless one codes his own exploits and tools, then its probably a script kiddie. Both blackhats and script kiddies have the same targets, either a fixed target, or a generic range of vulnerable pcs to a given exploit. There is no big difference, just the amount of skill. The goals are similar as well, however blackhats tend to like getting their hands on useful information more than on resources. Another point you have gotten wrong is that they are malicious, the way i see that term, it would mean that they plan on destroying the data, which is usually wrong, since most script kiddies just want resources and a lower number of them deface sites.So those are the points you have gotten a bit wrong.
