So why does everyone use C and Java these days?

Java is a scalable enterprise XML solution.
C is OH EXPLOITABLE

HELLO, I'M JOHN BACKUS, FOUNDER AND CREATOR OF THE FORTRAN LANGUAGE. I AM HERE TO SAY I DIED YESTERDAY AND SO MAY FORTRAN REST IN PEACE FOR GREAT WINNING. I ALREADY APOLOGIZED ENOUGH FOR CREATING SUCH A SHITTY LANGUAGE BASED ON VON-NEUMANN ARCHITECTURE AND HAVING IT POPULARIZE INSTEAD OF LISP. I TRIED TO MAKE UP FOR IT FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE WORKING ON GETTING VON-NEUMANN MACHINES OUT OF PEOPLE'S HEADS, BUT IT WAS DIFFICULT BECAUSE THEIR HEADS WERE IN TURN INTO THEIR ASSES. I GUARANTEE IT.

formula translation. great for maths work, not so great for general purpose business oriented programming.

For maths there is J, use no useless language.

J is fine too, but I prefer fortran for my maths processing work. It may be because I'm more experienced with using fortran.

I personally like forced indentation, when it's just that (i.e. not "x statement starts in column y", just what Python does), because it forces faggots to write properly, and doesn't disturb people who already write properly. However, one word, the forced indentation of code, thread over is just a meme from some cocksucker here.

Fortran is not good, even for Maths. "Business oriented" anything also sucks. Java is good for "business oriented" (i.e. sucking).
For real stuff, I recommend flexible languages, which means Lisp or something deriving many of its features. (BTW, Lisp is awesome for Maths once you get used to it.)
