Danbooru (SQL, Ruby)

Anyone know how to set up a Danbooru?

I downloaded the software, but I don't know what to do after uploading everything to my server... My SQL knowledge is limited at best, and my Ruby's even worse.

ok postgresql is giving me major shit. so im getting delayed by that big time. after that i just have to set up apache (piss easy like 10 mins if that) then i can implement the script. once i have that working ill have a pack+tutorial up for windows in under a day so if if i fix my sql problem tonight i should get it up for windows either my late tonight or tomorrow some time.

just keeping this updated.

Nah, I just wrote that to scare you... whoever added you is probably a bot or some guy that kills people that posts their information online though.

Do you plan on releasing this publically?

what a win32 package of the danbooru source with all needed files pre-setup?

if so then yes eventually. i *think* ive got it all working sql and ruby wise but have no idea what the install file means by telling me to direct apache to danbooru via cgi. only because there isnt anything to link apache to.

ill keep looking but as soon as i get this all working ill do it in win32 and then make a rapidshit of a package for it.

It looks like the guy behind Danbooru is releasing newer versions of the software... It's a little impractical to ask for a win32 version everytime something new's released, so I'm thinking it would probably be best if I simply installed Linux and try to get to grips with it.

Once I do, what would I need to do to get Danbooru up and running?

Name: matt_7893 2007-03-12 0:32 ID:iGmXzilZ

once its installed on win32 its would just be about redirecting apache (or IIS or whatever http server you use) towards a new dnabooru. no different from what it would be in linux.

the sql database would still work so that wouldnt need to be changed so over all its just a matter of time until i get all this working.

sorry but that a bit away again i didnt work on it all all for the last to days really how ever i think i figured out my last problem. ive been busy with my paper craft and other edumacation related stuffs.

shouldnt be long with it if there is new source coming out ill work with that instead.

in answer to your question all you need is a Ruby, ruby gems (automatic installer for ruby, quite like yum for fedora) some gems packages (works with ruby gems) postgresql (the only reason i havent finished this project yet) and the danbooru source i thinks.

if you do decide to go linux run a duel boot until your used to it.

No need to apologise, I still greatly appreciate the time you've spent on this :p

Hm... If that's the case, I'll just hold out until you find the time to get it finished (found out last night that I don't have the space to install Linux anyway, I need to get a bigger HDD)

Thanks again :)

Don't run a public server on Windows, unless you want to get raped badly. The first guy that notices you're serving pages from Windows, especially via ISS, will try to exploit the 847 known vulnerabilities of the Windows platform, some still unsolved, many still unpatched.

Name: matt_7893 2007-03-12 7:19 ID:iGmXzilZ

the whole idea in my opinion was for it to be private and only for use of the person that servers it. NOT for public use. on Linux maybe but then you have to consider your bandwidth and limit. overall all im saying is that this is going to be designed for private use only.

on a different note. all is good i need to get the new svn release and pack that into it otherwise i can have a Linux pack very soon and a win32 pack with in the week (heavy week education wise)

The hosting company I'm with is running Linux/Apache, the problem I'm having is installing everything while using Windows. I mentioned this back in the original thread on /e/, but I probably should have elaborated on it here...

If it makes a difference, what would I need to do through Windows to get it running on a server running Linux?

A personal version running off Windows would still be very useful though, so please don't think you've wasted your time (my host doesn't allow risqué images and a vast majority of what I have was collected off /e/ and /h/)

my effort wouldnt have been wasted anyway. im doing this as much for myself as i am for the whole of /e/ that wants to organize their shit. the fact that i get my 3rd box (what will become my ftp/network server box) was enough to make me deal with all of this. so its just me being generous to expand it onto a win32 pack.

i will email you so you can get my email and i can talk to you through that about your linux server. the ways you can control linux remotely is vast. i can control my box from anywhere in the globe with next with putty a password and ssh.

but yer i dont have much time to work on this project this week. a lot of tests and shit next week and i have major revision to do for all of em. ill keep this thread updated with any changes.

also if someone gets a copy of the current source from svn rapidshit it. i cant get svn working at the moment. but yer ill keep this updated.

Name: matt_7893 2007-03-14 2:00 ID:TCm205EF

well i got the new release just got to implement it and ill can start real work on the win32 edition.

Apparently I went to Japan to take a class in "gun control." But the first few days of classes is all squirting each other with water pistols and even plastic syringes. During one of the classes I overhear classmates saying they want to go to the club after class. I deduce that the club is actually the arcade at the mall. The group needed one more person for some reason, and I was about to volunteer myself, but I notice one of my classmates on the other side of the room looks like a girl I knew in elementary school.

I have a problem with the game. So i DL the game the same time it released on previous Comiket. Patch it to 1.01, play a bit and stop playing it for a long time... Until recently

Don't change these.
