Anyone ever code in MATLAB? I fail horribly at it. =(

disp('Can you code in MATLAB?')
if(id(post) == 'Oa2Ef10k')
    disp('NO')
else
    disp('Hell yes!')
end

I actually lol'd, RJby+Vx0. But seriously my Prof made us all buy that Matlab book.

Any tips on matlab? obviously reading the book will ..but will knowing other programming languages help?

Knowing other programming languages will help. I don't know any Matlab (I recall having written a couple of functions for it years ago, but I completely forgot all about it), but judging for what I see in >>3, it's a pretty simple language. Almost any conventional programming language will yield the necessary knowledge and discipline to use Matlab.

Listen to this man.
Also, MATLAB has a pretty decent built-in help function. Use it. It's somewhat tricky to find the functions you want though, but persistence helps. Best of luck to you!

the problem with matlab is that you have to understand the math you're trying to do in it from liek, 20 different povs.

>>7 speaks truth.  And then you have to vectorize it.

use a real programming language like SML and you wouldnt come up against these types of problems.

matlab programming was painful until i learned to remember which subscript is for rows/columns

getting the dimensions right is what matters

functions are sort of a pain in the ass in matlab -- u need a different .m file for each one

What about anonymous functions? D:

true, but, from my limited matlab experience it seems anonymous functions are good for single or multivar math equations and not oop-style functions with loops and such.  i could be wrong though...
