a robot for danbooru

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-10 12:46

I made my first python app (and it probably was a complete waste of time). it's here: http://untu.ms/danbooru/
maybe hearing what the trolls have to say about my pristine code will make me feel better

at least I can say I know one more language now ^__^

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-10 12:56

or maybe no one will care and I'll refresh an empty thread like a complete faggot

what is python

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-10 13:09

a toy programming language

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-10 13:17

I like python, I'm reading your code right now!

how do i raped danbooru

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-10 13:22

So does it actually work, or will I hammer the site with tags like "pantsu+loli-pantsu+pantsu+pantsu"?

Questions (Answer them if you like):
What does this do: filenames = sorted(filenames)[::-1]

What is sqlite, and what does it do? Is it sql, but without any program running?

Also it's interesting to see how different you (who are clearly more adept at this kind of ting) write your code as opposed to how I would have written it (if I could... I wish...).

Being taught all the latest buzz, I'd have split the app up in a brazillion files, and used mixedCaseFunctionNames() and tons

of

whitespace...

Anywho, great contribution. Thanks for sharing!

::-1 means step is -1, and that expression sorts and then reverses the list of filenames. sqlite is a relational database without a running daemon. it's also fast

how do i raped danbooru

it uses the official api (though the all the info could be spidered anyway, it would just take longer), danbooru splits up the content between several mirrors, and the margin of users who could use a command line tool probably is pretty low anyway, so I have to disagree to your grand argument

So does it actually work, or will I hammer the site with tags like "pantsu+loli-pantsu+pantsu+pantsu"?

it works pretty well for me, though I haven't got any feedback about how it works for anyone else

So basically it does filenames = sorted(filenames).reverse()?

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-10 14:29

>>filenames = sorted(filenames).reverse()

no, if you tried this, list would be None, since .reverse() doesn't return the array for performance reasons. [::-1] would also work on, say, tuples

Earlier today I had read on Slashdot about "A Fully Programmable Mobile Robot" to do what people did with Roomba. I was half asleep right now and somehow related "Danbooru" with "Roomba" and thought this was some code to do something with the robot. First I thought "now that was fast", then I looked at the code for a whole minute trying to see how the fuck do you operate the robot, until I realized the purpose of the code.

Why do you want all the files associated with a set of tags anyway? Most of it is crap; just hand-pick the good ones based on the thumbnails.

Or you could provide an official mirror and get everything that way.

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-12 15:03

manually wading through danbooru pages takes too much time if I can just get everything and then sort locally

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-12 15:57

>>20
But you're wasting a ton of bandwidth. Write a proper client.

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-13 5:46

>>21
danbooru has a whole bunch of mirrors, it doesn't matter if you leech some images that you'll gonna be deleting later. a client with thumbnails etc. would be bad for danbooru, since you wouldn't see the ads.

danbooru can shut down this client at any time if it starts becoming harmful, just by blocking the ua or changing the api

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-13 20:34

or changing the api

Wow, great solution

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-15 10:41

>>23

what can I say? with a spider, the site doesn't have even that kind of control

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-15 12:32

Danbooru should add random fagcatch controls like select the kitty out of 8 pictures of fags and 1 kitty, and ban your IP for an hour if you click on a fag.

and ban your IP for an hour if you click on a kitty.

Why are you bumping this thread? OP's links are dead. What do you expect will be added to the four year old conversation?

He discovered he can bump old threads just like a monkey discovered that when it pushes a button, the machine makes a sound and a candy drops. Delighted by its discovery, the monkey keeps pushing the button over and over and over -just like this retard keeps bumping old threads- without ever comprehending what it is doing, or what are its implications.
