good java book for knowledgable programmers?

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-04 3:35

Yeah, I know Java sucks, but after much frustration I've concluded that I need to learn it because, well, I'd like to start my career before I get my first kidney stone or AARP newsletter.  Jesus christ the software industry's in the shitter right now.

Can someone recommend a Java book that's written in a way that's aimed at people who are already deeply knowledgable about programming and computer science?  I have a strong foundation in C, C++, LISP, Prolog, and Assembly, so I don't need a book that's written for complete newbs.  I've programmed in Java before, too, but I've only the fundamental understanding of it, not a deeper understanding of its keywords, abilities, syntaxes, etc, the whole kitten kaboodle.
