What tools do you use for reverse engineering? What is your general approach to such things?

OllyDbg and IDA are perfect for the majority of reverse engineering needs. Last thing I did concerning reverse engineering was adding a console to Titan Quest that logged all the debug messages and gave access to some various debugging functions, but it was very easy due to the way the application was compiled with all the debug information intact (MSVC 7). As for approach, I have no idea how other people do it. I generally look for the locations of API calls, strings, constants and other things that are related to what I'm wanting to work with.

I like to reverse proprietary network communications protocols by disassembling the servers and clients in IDA Pro. Of course, when I publish the results I tell everyone that I figured it all out from packet sniffing the sessions but that's bullshit - it's just too fucking hard.
