JAVA IS THE BEST (IF NOT THE BEST) LANGUAGE BECAUSE OF IT'S COMPATIBILITY WITH ALL THE SYSTEMS. YOU CAN USE IT ON WINDOWS, LINUX, MAC OSX, PHONE OS, AND TOASTERS. THANK YOU.
Yes, it works on everything, but it never works quite right. Thus, FAIL.

JAVA FAILS MOSTLY FOR LACK OF UNSIGNED INTEGERS IN CELL PHONES AND TOSTERS AND THE RETARDED WAY YOU HAVE TO DO NON-OO PROGRAMMING IF YOU REALLY HAVE TO.

Lol, compatibility... Not more than clib, and certainly much less than Python, Ruby, etc.

java is not yet free. the day i am allowed to modify java, publish my improvements AND charge a fee for doing so without requiring to notify sun or pay them anything is the day java will be free.

orly? the time it takes to load the vm is slow but what was the last version of java did you use? I've done some benchmarks of a few basic computing algorithms in c++ and java and i've found java to be slightly slower compared to the c++ implementations.

signed. but you shouldn't be designing what you app does and how to get you app to do it in a programming ide. you should at least do a couple of high level data flow diagrams and write out exactly what you want your program to solve before you load the ide.

Agree. If you're working on something big, chances are that no single paradigm is the best solution. One has to take the best fruits from every tree and use the right tool for every job.

And that's where your benchmark erred.
you know, design patte-- fuck why do I even bother? LETS JUST CODE DOOM 5 FROM SCRATCH OKAY? YEAH I KNOW THIS IS WHAT MOST OF YOU FAGS DREAM OF DOING, BUT WILL NEVER ACHIEVE IT.
UR SO DAMN DUMB!! SO WHAT ABOUT ALL THE PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES?ARE YOU SAYING THEY ARENT ALSO PORTED?LET ME TELL YOU BITCH! PYTHON IS THE BEST PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE OUT THERE>>>

JAVA IS THE BEST (IF NOT THE GREATEST) PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE OUT THERE IF YOU WERE TO CRASH A CAR MADE OF JAVA INTO A CAR MADE OF WIN/32 COMPILED NATIVE CODE IT WOULD BREAK IT.
Java I/O is slow niggerses. So many noobs...
Oh, and Python was created by mexicans by the way.

JAVA IS THE HARDERST ( IF NOT THE HARDEST ) METAL ON EARTH.

Java is one of the few languages verbose, strict, and annoyingly crappy enough that you really suffer if you don't use an IDE. In many cases, that means running an IDE written in crappy slow Java itself.
If I had to complain about one language feature, it would be having to declare everything you throw. It's particularly shitty for things like callback hooks. Writing a SAX parser, having to wrap all _your_ exceptions as the cause of SAXExceptions, and then having to catch SAXExceptions and extract your own error from inside to get the important info (possibly as a big "if/else-if/else-if" block rather than a simple "try-catch-catch" block) is just plain stupid. Either that, or you use RuntimeExceptions, which defeats the whole purpose of Java's exception declaring anyway...
I would rather use that annoying whitespace-delimited linebreak-terminated "there is only one way to do it" control-freak Python than code in Java.

Captian Obvious asked me to pass on the message that he will be late as he is currently stuck in traffic due to a Javamobile blocking traffic. Captian Obvious has already made the obvious suggestion of going nuclear to the traffic police.
